Pax Mundi
"Pax Mundi" is a bronze casting from 1997 that depicts a ribbon skirting a sphere. In Brent's words, "I oriented the ribbon's crescent cross section to always turn away from the positive curvature of the underlying geometry, except when modulated by a twist parameter keyed to the sectional curvature variations in the sinusoidal paths of the ribbons themselves. . . I intuitively maximized the overall negative curvature of the ribbons in the hope of giving them an unprecedentedly fluid elegance of economy and coherence." Diameter, 24".
